As Vice President of Development for Related California, Mr. Smith is directly involved in all aspects of the development process, including entitlements, design, financing and construction of affordable housing units throughout California.
Since 2001, Mr. Smith has developed 19 projects, totaling more than 1,600 affordable housing units in the Inland Empire. During his tenure at Related, Mr. Smith has also successfully managed and developed more than 1,500 family and senior tax credit-financed units in Northern and Southern California, and been responsible for securing over $800 million in financing to develop these sites.
Prior to joining Related, Mr. Smith served as a Senior Project Manager with the Olson Company, a California homebuilder specializing in urban infill for-sale housing. For 18 years, Mr. Smith was Senior Vice President of Development for SSG Construction where he directed all aspects of the development and construction of single-family homes on infill sites throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Finance, along with a Minor in Economics and Accounting from Brigham Young University.
